Mark Michelson

Dr. Mark Michelson is Chairman of the Asia CEO Forum for IMA Asia, which helps leaders of multinational companies in Asia Pacific to monitor and assess political, economic and commercial developments across the region — and to integrate key insights into their operational and strategic business plans. He also is Senior Counselor and member of the International Advisory Council at APCO Worldwide, which provides public affairs and strategic communications services in Asia-Pacific and globally, and established APCO’s first Asia office in 1997.

He serves as an adjunct associate professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  He also is a member he American Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees, and the Public Affairs Asia advisory board – and is a Professor of Practice for the Hong Kong Management Association.

From 2004 through 2008, Dr. Michelson was Associate Director-General for Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, the department of the Hong Kong Government that assists overseas and Mainland Chinese companies to set up and expand their businesses in Hong Kong.  Dr Michelson has spent over 40 years in the Asia/ Pacific region, mainly living in Hong Kong but also in Japan.  He served as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Country Club,  chaired  two committees at the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and has been a member of three Hong Kong Government advisory committees.

Dr Michelson earned his BA from Carleton College and a doctorate from the University of Illinois. He also attended Harvard University, the University of Tokyo and the New York University Graduate School of Business – and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to do research in Japan.
